Respiration which utilizes proteins as substrate is called protoplasmic respiration, whereas that uses carbohydrates or fats is termed floating respiration.

So if floating respiration use carbohydartes such as glucose and fats it will possibly take part in kreb cycle hence it should take place in mitochondria.
