Where is Mawsynram located?And why does it get the maximum amount of rainfall?

Mawsynram , in Meghalaya is on the windward side of Garo, Khasi and Jantia hills. It receives rain from the South West Monsoon winds which has its path from the Bay of Bengal. Hence it receives the highest rainfall in the world.
