Mawsynram receives one of the highest rainfalls in India. Mawsynram is the rainiest place of india with an average annual rainfall of 1140cms. It is located in the southern slopes of khasi hills (meghalaya) at a height of 1500 metre above the sea level . This place is enclosed by hills on three sides .

mawsynram is located in the state of Meghalaya . there are the himalayas which not allow the southwest monsoon winds to escape from that area and so here we get highest amount of rainfall . the second reason is also due to highest no. of tress in that area . hope it helps
