Mithila in Bihar is considered as the sasural or in-law home of Lord Rama and Lakshmana.

Sita was the daughter of Janaka Maha Raj, the king of Mithila. He organized a swayamvar where the bridegrooms should show their strength by bending bow named as Shiva Banam.

Many kings including Ravana tried to bend it but failed in the process. Lord Rama was the only one who wins this game.
