Answer:

Yes, new cells formed during healing of wound.

There are four main stages or phases associated with healing of a wound:

1. Hemostasis phase: The main purpose of this phase is to prevent the excessive loss of blood by making clots. It constricts the blood vessels to decrease the blood flow. Platelets, fibrin etc actively participate in this phase and make clot at the wound site.

2. Inflammatory phase: It prevents the occurrence of any infection or disease. Blood rich in nutrients, growth factors, water, macrophages etc reach the wound site and help in healing and repairing of the cells as well as removal of damaged cells, pathogens, etc. It causes swelling, redness, pain and heat at the wound site.

3. Proliferative phase: It mainly focuses on filling, contraction of wound margins, and covering of the wound. New tissues and blood vessels are built during this phases. Epithelialization also takes place during this phase in which epithelial cells migrate to the wound bed and proliferate actively until the wound is covered with epithelium.

4. Maturation phase: The repaired tissues are remodeled and gain strength during this phase.
