A freely falling body (stone) is involved in aaccerleration . This acceleration is due to the gravitational pull by the earth on the object. So this uniform acceleratio is called as the ACCELERATION DUE TO GRAVITY which varies from place to place . It is denoted by the letter "g" .Its value on earth is 9.8 m/s^2.
