Hi friend,

Subsistence crisis is a situation in which the basics need of the people are in danger.

During French revolution the following situations led to subsistence crisis-:

<>Population increased from 23 million in 1715 to 28 million in 1789 so the demand of food increased which led to increase of the price o food.

<>When drought or flood came the grains that were sowed by the farmers in the field got destroyed which further led to subsistence crisis.

<>The workers worked for the owners and their wages were set by their owners which did not kept pace with the increasing price thus the financial gap between rich and poor widened.

These situations led to subsistence crisis.

Hope it helps...

The factor responsible for substances crisis in 1789 are :
(1) The population of france rose considerably from 1715 to 1789 which h led to rapid increase in the demand for food grains.
(2) Production of grains could not keep pace with the rising population so the price of bread, the staple dite of majority was increased but the wages of workers employed in work shops didn't increase. This widened the gap between rich and poor.
