The French and Indian War was a conflict between Great Britain and France trying to defend the colonies that each of these countries had in America supported by some Indian tribes from 1754 to 1763 when the Treaty of Paris was signed. After the war ended, multiple taxes on paper and imported goods such as tea were established for the British colonies in America, this occurred as Great Britain needed money to pay war debts and believed colonist in America should somehow pay for the defense and help of Great Britain during this war. Additionally, the king in Britain established colonists could not create any settlements beyond the Appalachian mountains and those who had already done it had to return, limiting the territorial expansion colonists pursued.
