In case of direct democracy, the citizens have the right to make decisions whereas, in case of indirect democracy, the citizens of the country elect a particular representative who takes the decisions and works on behalf of the citizens.
The two forms of democracy are
Direct democracy – In the situation of direct democracy, all citizens takes active part in the decision making of government by exercising their vote. There is no presence of representative or arbitrator. All direct democracies are in small communities or city-nations. Example – Switzerland
Representative democracy – It is different from direct democracy as in this type of democratic system all the decision are taken by the people or representative elected by the citizens. All the citizens (above of age 18) are elects their representatives by exercising their voting power.
