Explanation:

Lithium has 3 protons, compared to 11 in Sodium. You would have thought that the electrostatic attraction of the 11 protons on Sodium's outer electrons would be stronger than that of Lithium, however it is offset by screening and distance effects. S electrons are especially effective at shielding.
