Rhizobium is the bacteria present in the roots of leguminous plants. It helps to fix atmospheric nitrogen into a soluble form so that plants can use this nitrogen. The plants in return provide this bacteria with food and shelter. Other bacteria which fix atmospheric nitrogen are some blue-green algae.
