Answer: The correct answer is B) Unlike the lysogenic cycle, the lytic cycle involves destruction of the host.

Lytic and lysogenic cycle both are the two cycles/ modes of viral reproduction.

Lytic cycle follows five stages for the bacterial infection that is ttachment to bacteria, penetration ( viral DNA enters bacterial cell), biosynthesis ( viral DNA is replicated), maturation ( new viral particles are assembled), and lysis ( virus performs lysis of the host cell and gets released from it).

On the contrary, lysogenic cycle does not involve the destruction of the host. In this cycle, when viral genome enters host cell, it gets integrated into the host genome as prophage. It remains in a passive/ inactive form and as the bacterial chromosome is replicated, viral DNA is replicated along with it. Thus, prophage enters into the daughter cells ( it enhances the virulence of bacteria).
