Semidiurnal tides. Due to the rotation of the earth,  two tidal waves occur every lunar day.

Coastal areas experience two high and two low tides after every 24 hours and 50 minutes.

High tides take place in  12 hours and 25 minutes gap. It takes six hours and 12.5 minutes for the water at the shore zones to go from high to low, or the reverse.

Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon and the Sun, as well as rotation of Earth.
