Some of Amazon EBS volume hard drives can’t be used as root volumes.
- Typically block drives are known for running database system or operating systems.
- EBS volume HDDs comes in two types and 5 different configurations.
- Three of them are bootable and two are unbootable.
- EBS volumes SSD (Solid State Drive) and EBS volume HDD (Hard Disk Drive) are the two types.
- Both the configuration available in SSD are bootable, where as one out of three in HDD are bootable.
