The date was decided by a pan-national organization of socialist and communist federal parties to honor the Haymarket affair, which happened in Chicago on 4 May 1886.
All the organization of Social Democratic Party and trade associations of all nations were called to illustrate actively on the 1st of May for the constitutional institution to fix the working hours of the 8-hour day, to preserve the class benefits so that universal peace could be established.
Therefore after the formation of International Labour Organisation (ILO) it became the certified body of United Nations who declared 1st May as the International Workers' Day.
