On July 26, Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore has been awarded D Litt (Honoris Causa) by West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi at a remarkable conference of Kazi Nazrul University (KNU) administered at the Raj Bhawan. Tripathi, the vice chancellor of university conferred D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) to S M Yusuf who is a well-known scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre,  on the same occasion. Along with this on May 26, Kazi Nazrul University had presented honorary D Litt to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during its third conference at its Asansol campus.
