Chemistry is the only subject where choosing the correct books becomes somewhat tough. The reason for the same is that there are different books for each unit and for theory and numerical which are good. So one always needs to get a combination of multiple books thus, increasing the confusion about which book to buy. Chemistry is the subject having ample amount of learning and so a good theory book is a must and to retain all that you have learnt you need to practice a lot of questions and so a good numerical book is equally important. This article aims to reduce your confusions to a large extent by discussing at length the best books that you must buy to do well in JEE Advanced.

Organic Chemistry

Organic chemistry requires a deep understanding of all the reaction mechanisms and thus, one needs excellent theory materials to refer to. The following books will help you in understanding concepts and their applications too.

Reactions, Rearrangements and Reagents by S.N. Sanyal:

This book is a small and thin book which is a great guide for mechanisms, reagents and named reactions. You will get almost all named reactions and reagents in this along with their detailed mechanism. Since it doesn’t require a huge monetary investment, this is a must try book for JEE chemistry. Having all mechanisms and reactions in one place really helps during revision. This book is meant for theory purposes only.

Solomons’ Organic Chemistry:

This book is a comprehensive book for the entire theory portion for JEE Advanced organic chemistry. It has all the mechanisms and reactions very well explained. There are a few problems too at the end of each chapter. The book isn’t specifically meant for JEE so do refer to the syllabus while using it. You can use this book to build a strong base in JEE organic. But once you are done with the theory from this book you would need to practice questions from some other source too.
