EXPANATION:
Gang Canal is an irrigation system of canals built by Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner in his princely state in the current district of Sri Ganganagar in 1928. The canal is made by lime lining.
The canal was built to irrigate around 3.4 lakh hectares of land in the district of Ganganagar. It has facilitated the cultivation of pulses, wheat, rice, oilseeds, cotton, citrus fruits, and sugarcane.
This canal starts from the Sutlej River near Husainiwala (Firozpur) and has a total length of around 1,280 km. Ganga canal is also known as Bikaner canal.
