The elected candidates are directly elected by the people of the country while the nominated candidates are nominated by the President or Governor as the case may be. The nominated candidates enjoy all the power and privileges available to an elected candidate. They take part in the proceedings of the house as any other member. But they are not entitled to vote in the election of the President of India. The elected candidates have the right to vote in the election of the President of India.
