The entire process of transformation of caterpillar into a butterfly takes place inside the chrysalis, also known as pupa and lasts for about 10 to 15 days from a four week long process, in peak of the summer. • Once all the body parts are formed fully inside the chrysalis, the color of the chrysalis starts to change and the butterfly’s colorful patterns can be seen through it.

• After this the butterfly slowly breaks open the chrysalis with its folded wings and other body parts, then pumps blood into the wings and flies away as a fully formed butterfly.
