Meditation serves to calm, soothe and relax the body, like yoga, tai-chi, shifting the body into a parasympathetic state, releasing healing hormones such as Melatonin, Serotonin, GABA, DHEA, Endorphins, growth hormone

firstly , if we think about why we would want to meditate in the first place , with the intention to focus and quiet the mind , eventually reaching a higher level of awareness and inner calm . So you are not exactly going to be jacked up on stress hormones such as adrenaline , preparing your body for action in a state of flight or fight in the sympathetic state of the autonomic nervous system .
