The chromosomes that were used by ‘Dr. Lalji Singh’ is the Y chromosome from braided krait for obtaining radioactive DNA probe.

Lalji Singh worked in the area of DNA fingerprinting and is rightly called the “Father of DNA fingerprinting”. He has also worked on areas like molecular basis of ‘sex determination’, ‘wildlife conservation forensics and evolution’, and ‘migration of humans’.

While working on the DNA of braided krait e found that there was a sequence of repetitive bases that was identical to every individual with this evolved the DNA fingerprinting technology.
