India has successfully negotiated among different ethnic population and in its 29 states and 7 union territories, resides more than two thousand ethnic groups.  Almost every religion of the world, from Islam to Hinduism to Buddhism to Jainism to Christianity to Sikhism has its own diaspora in almost every Indian state. The four major families of languages is prevalent in India:-

1. Indo-Aryans ----comprising of Gujarati, Bengali, Assamese,Rajasthani, Kashmiri, Punjabi,Oriya, Marathi, Konkani

2. Dravidian ----Kannada, Malayali, Tamil Telegu
 
3. Austroasiatic -----Khasi, Nicobarese & Munda

4. Sino-Tibetan languages---- Manipuri, Mizo, Naga, Bodo, Arunachali, Sikkimese, Tripuri, Garo
