Which criterias are used for classifying the plants ?
Answers
Hi.
First criteria to divide the Plantae kingdom is weather the plant is well differentiated into roots, stem and leaves or not. The plants which are well divided are in the division Thallophyta. Then, all the plants which are well differentiated are divided on the basis of presence of vascular system (xylem and phloem tissues.) The division which is well differentiated but lacks vascular system are in the division Bryophyta. Next the plants are divided on the basis weather they produce seeds or not. The plants which are well differentiated and have vascular system but don't produce seeds are in the division Pteridophyta. Next plants are divided on the basis weather the bear naked seeds or covered seeds. The plants which are well differentiated, have vascular system and bear naked seeds are in the division Gymnosperms. And, finally, The plants which are well differentiated, have vascular system and bear covered seeds are in the division Angiosperms.
Hope it helps.
Plants are autotrophic that is they make their own food conducting and mechanical tissues and reproductive organs have evolved in higher plants.
The criteria for deciding division in them is by the following:
* Differentiation of plant body.
* Presence aur absence of special tissues for the transport of water and other substances.
* Seeds naked or enclosed in fruits.
* One what two cotyledons in seed.
Thank you !!
