Rabi crops are benefitted by western disturbances.
\Western disturbance is a kind of weather situation which originates from Caspian Sea (Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran area). It moves from west to east and create a low pressure area in Indian subcontinent. This creates clouds and brings pre-monsoon rain/ winter rain in northern and western parts of India, heavy snowfall in Kashmir and Himachal. The winter showers are of great help to rabi crops (precipitation needed by them is favorable). Though too much of it is harmful for the crops but winter shower is necessary especially wheat (Wheat is staple food in India). Barley, peas are also rabi crops. Western Disturbances bring rain but it is not monsoon. Monsoon season is different season (originates from Bay of Bengal) and Western Dusturbances is related with winter rains.
