Bacteriophage viruses cause disease in bacteria. Often lyseing the bacteria and releasing more phages. They can be used to treat and heal bacteria infections, or prevent them, in larger organisms. Though matching the right bacteriaphage to the infection has proven difficult. They are surprising safe, yet I suppose one could have an immune response to them… This then would be something like a cold when exposed…. They used them during surgsurgery as an antibiotic so that kind of exposure could lead to an immune, or allergy, response. But in general bacteria are so different from eukaryotes that the mechanisms behind bacteria phages doesn't attack animals.
