Macbeth is made to become King after he and his wife plotted together and killed Duncan because of the prophecy they hear which was made by the witches.

Hearing the prophecy, he also orders the killings of Banquo and his son.

Due to this, he later sees the ghost of Banquo which frightens him and Macbeth goes back to the witches.
