The main event which led to World War I is the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.
- The tensions had already been ignited four years prior to the actual war as there was a prevalence of political instability in the Balkans.
- The main event which is responsible for the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand who was an heir of the Empire of Astro-Hungary and it happened in the Sarajevo region of Bosnia.
- He was a victim of a shot by a nationalist of Serbia named Gavrilo Princip and not only he get shot but even his wife died due to the shot this incident took place in the year 1914 on 28 June.
- The main reason for this assassination was that Gavrilo along with many other nationalists wanted to end the dominance of Astro-Hungarians in Bosnia and they wanted their rule to end so they had no choice but to shoot Franz.
- This led to the Serbian government being blamed for all and this kind of assassination then took place in many other places this questioned Serbian nationalism as to whether or not it was a justifiable act.
