kinetic energy of a object depends directly on both the mass of the object and the velocity of the object neglecting half as a constant.we get that an increase in mass the kinetic energy increases but on increasing the velocity the kinetic energy increases more because the kinetic energy is directly related to the square of velocity.

for example here we can say if if k is the kinetic energy of object and m is the mass of object and v is the velocity of object then say on doubling the mass the kinetic energy increases as given:

k=½mv² (original)

k=½(2m)v² (on doubling mass)

k=mv².

but when in the same case we double the velocity we have:

k=½mv² (original)

k=½m(2v²) (on doubling velocity)

k=2mv².

from here we can easily in for that on doubling a velocity the kinetic energy increases by two times which is far more than doubling the mass.
