Digestive enzymes play a key role in regulating and maintaining the functions of the digestive system properly. These enzymes not only helps in digestion but due to excess or lack of these enzymes, one can face difficulties in digestions too.

mouth - salivary amylase - breaks down strach to give sugar

stomach - hydrochloric acid - acidic medium for pepsin to act

              - pepsin - acts on proteins to make it to amino acids

                - mucus - protects the stomach lining from the acidic medium

small intestine - bile juice - makes the medium acidic for pancreatic enzymes to work and it also emulsifies fat globules

                          - trypsin - digests proteins

                            - lipase - breaks down emulsified fats

and then finally the enzymes in the small intestines converts proteins to amino acids, complex carbohydrates to glucose and fats into fatty acids
