“Dry ice” is the name of solid carbon dioxide.

It is very cold (a mixture of dry ice and alcohol has a temperature of -78.5 degrees C).

When exposed to the normal temperature outside atmosphere under normal conditions, dry iceit begins to “sublimes” to forming gaseous carbon dioxide.

The gas named as Carbon dioxide is known as dry ice. It's so named as it doesn't wet a piece if paper or cloth.
