Carbon dioxide gas is liberated when acid reacts with metal. We can test the presence of Co2 by passing it through lime water doing this will turn Ca(OH)2 cloudy white.
Ca(OH)2 + CO2 = CaCo3 + H2o
Ca(OH)2 + CO2 = CaCo3 + H2o

Answer: Hydrogen is liberated. You can identify the gas by bringing a burning candle near the gas.....the flame will burn off with a pop sound.
Eg. Na +Hcl -----> NaCl + H2 (gas)
