~Hydrogen gas is liberated when acids react with metal carbonates or hydrocarbons.
~Acid+Metal--->Salt+Hydrogen
~We can examine the presence of this gas by passing through a soap solution and bringing a burning candle near it. It will give a pop sound.

when acid reacts with metal carbonates or metal hydrogencarbonates salt,water and, a gas named carbon dioxide (CO2) is liberated. .....to test the gas evovoled it is passed through lime water.... a white precipitate named calcium carbonate is formed.....the reaction is

Ca(OH)2 + CO2------>CaCO3 +H2O......


on passing excess carbon dioxide the reaction is

CaCO3 + H2O + CO2----> Ca (HCO3)2

the reaction can be summarised as

metal carbonate/metal hydrogencarbonates + Acid-----> metal salt + carbon dioxide +water
