When a metal reacts with acid, Hydrogen gas is liberated.

Eg :- Fe + Hcl -----> FeCl2 + H2.

When you put hydrogen in a glowing splinter, it burns with a pop sound. This is a sure test for the presence of hydrogen gas.

Hope I Helped !!

Cheers!
