when HCl (diluted) is added to a reactive metal say Cu ( copper ) it produces Hydrogen gas ( H2)

for ex- Cu + 2HCl ==> CuCl2 + H2

iron with H2SO4

Fe + H2SO4 ==>FeSO4 (Iron sulfate) + H2
