Oxygen (O2) gas is the supporter of Combution Reaction.

Following are the reactions:-
1) C + O2 ---) CO2+Heat +Light

2) CH3CH2OH+O2---)CO2+H2O+Heat +Light.

3)CH4+ O2----) CO2+H2O+Heat+Light

The above reaction shows that how oxygen is supporter of combustion.In other way we can say, that Carbon, in all its allotropic forms, burns in O2 to give CO2 along with the release of heat and light..
