Penguins are an aquatic bird group. Highly adapted to life in the sea, the penguins have dark and white counter-shaded plumage with their wings evolved into flippers.
EXPLANATION:
- Penguins are found in the 'Southern Hemisphere' almost exclusively, with one species found north of the 'Equator', that is, the 'Galápagos penguin'. Though most Penguin species are native to the 'Southern Hemisphere', they is not only found in cold weather like 'Antarctica'. In fact, so far south only a few penguin species live so far south.
- Moreover, in spite of the climate of South Pole and North Pole is similar, penguins are not found in the North Pole. Amongst the existing penguins larger penguins live in more cold areas, and in the temperate or even tropical environments smaller penguins are usually found.
- Some extinct species grew large, as big or heavy as an adult human being. These were not confined to 'Antarctic regions'; in contrast, sub-Antarctic regions 'harboured high diversity', and at 'least one giant penguin' occurred in the region, in a 'climate distinctly' warmer than today.
