Halophiles are organisms that thrive in high salt concentrations. They are a type of extremeophile organisms. The name comes from the Greek word for "salt-loving".

Archaea bacteria comes under domain archaea(archaea means ancient)

Archaea are found in the harshest environments on earth ,and are oldest known organisms on Earth appearing in the fossil record over 3.6 billion years ago. They are probably the oldest of living cells.

It includes three kingdoms.

1.Methanogens:-The “methane makers”.

2.Extreme Halophiles:-The “salt lovers”.

3.Extreme Thermoacidophiles:- “Heat/cold lovers”.
