Amongst all the halides of magnesium Fluoride hasthe highest ionic character.Fluroide is considered to be the 13th mostabundant element on the earth's crust.

Fluoride is present mostly in fresh and saltwater sources

and is naturally present at low concentration.

Reason/ Explanation → MgF₂ Shows highest Ionic character because the greater electronegativity of Florine , which cause highest polarization of bond. Electronegativity decreases in going down the group.

Note- Florine is the highest electronegative element in periodic table ( approx 4 )

F > Cl > Br > I 

So Florine polarize its Covalent bond with Magnesium.
