Hey Buddy here is the answer
liquids have lower density than solids therefore ice is accepted to be heavier than water. However ice has low density than water because it has cage like structure . In this structure a lot of vacant spaces are left when water molecules are linked in ice . The number of these vacant spaces are comparatively less in water and hence , density of water is more than ice. Due to lower density ice floats on water

REASON : ice has hexagonal structure due to which its volume increases .
density is given by d=m/v
so with increase in volume density decreases
therefore density of water is more than that of ice
