Blood flow with comparatively lesser pressure in veins and so chances of back flow of blood is high. Valves are necessary for maintain unidirectional blood flow. The muscle layer surrounding the veins is thinner as compared to the arteries. The outer coat of the vein is tough and fibrous in nature.
