Plant hormones (also known as phytohormones) are chemicals that regulate plant growth. In the United Kingdom, these are termed 'plant growth substances'.

Answer:

Defoliation is an unnatural loss of leaves from a plant or tree. The reasons which triggers defoliation are grazing animals, pest infestation, heat, high winds, drought , chemicals, frost, disease and early aging due to loss of chlorophyll.

Cytokinin is a plant hormone which delays the loss of chlorophyll. The cytokinins inhibit the degradation of chlorophyll and photosynthesis protein, hence prevents the early senescence of leaf.
