Insulation depends on operating voltage of a device. A +/- 10~20% tolerance is given. Like say a device operates at 220V so it is safe to give it an insulation of around 240–250V. Temperature variation of 24 hours duty is also important to note.
This is also true for induction motors as well. Normally Class F and Class H insulation is preferred for them. However, specification data sheet of the motor can describe more accurately depending on its use. For class F 155℃ is the maximum temperature allowable on operation, while class H insulation has around 180℃.
