Nidra or sleep is the tamasic form of sadhana.We go through all the deeper states of mind in the process called sleep and thus get rejuvinised by morning. Because this falls under the tamasic category of sadhana,shiva and shakthi form the adishtana devata for sleep. If you dont have the proper amount of shiva shakthi anugraha you will face insomnia problems.By doing shiva pooja you will regain the blessings of shiva and come out of the problem.(Please do remember that shiva and shakthi are indifferent,so are narayana and narayani).

Meditation is the form of satvic sadhana, so it falls under the control of Lord Narayana,thus by meditating on krsna one will reach the peak of meditation that he loses the need to sleep.This is a very rare phenomenon and is the toughest of all the ssdhanas,as you will have to fill your life with krsna and only satva guna.

An easier way is to accept sleep in a much more devotional way and please the tamsic gods first and later on ascend into satvic guna ,because tamas creates satva , by sleeping devotionally (tamsic sadhana) one day you will replace sleep with mediation (satvic sadhana).

Sleep is the highest form of Maya that we can experience in our lives,as all the dreams are so perfectly experienced that we feel that the dreams have really taken place in the real life. The main gods who hold the key to maya are Adi Maya Shakthi and Krsna himself.

Technique : Before you sleep thank Lord shiva ,by saying "Shiva,Shiva... " 11 times and pray Adi maya shakthi that, "Devi i know that you are the shakthi which creates all the dreams and you alone are the shakthi which rejuvenates me while giving my body rest,please wake me up with your divine energy".After thinking this in mind,lay your hand on the point where your ribs ends and try HEARING your heartbeat ,if not hearing at least try observing your heartbeat till you sleep.

As soon as you get up in the morning, thank Lord Narayana for giving you another new day in your life and request him energy and strength for the next day by saying "Sri hari, Sri Hari ,Sri Hari ".

By doing this for 21 days , the sleep requirement will lessen by two hours for sure.

If you practice this technique everyday ,you will soon get rid of any health issues relating stomach and abdomen,eyesight and Sun related problems in astrology. To improve your condition in life have a mangala darshanam in the morning,that is to see your palms or ganesha as soon as you open your eyes in the morning.
