There are certain parameters for measuring the hardness or strength of any metal. Mohs scale, tensile strength are important among those.
According to the values of tensile strength, Tungsten is on the top but it's brittle in real life. There comes Titanium with highest tensile strength to density ratio but its tend to break after a certain amount of strain too. The hardest naturally occurring metal can be Chromium which is on the top in Mohs scale.
Actually now a days alloys made by right proportions of different metals are much more stronger than a pure metal.
