Starch is the internal energy reserve in plants. in animals we have a similar type of storing energy called glycogen but not as same as in the plants glycogen they are stored form of energy in animal.

niki26: starch and glycogen both are polysaccharides and there units are glucose but difference in the branching and unit level. when we talk about energy then both the form produce similar amount of kilocalories.

Nope!
The energy reserves in plants are way different than the reserves in animals
______________________________________________________________
The plants reserves are Starch

Starch is  storage polysaccharide

It is made up of (200-2000) Glucose unit

It has α(1-4) linkage in helix ring and

α(1-6 ) linkage in branch structure

It gives  Blue - black color in iodine

Animals reserves are called glycogen :

Glycogen is also a storage polysaccharide

made up of (5000-30000) glucose unit

it has α(1-4 ) linkage in chain

and α(1-6 ) linkage in branch structure

It gives reddish color in iodine
