Which is the longest and shortest day of the year?

Summer solstice on 21st and 22nd June every year is the longest day whereas winter solstice on 22nd and 23rd Dec is the shortest day of the year. This is because on summer solstice Earth's North Pole is nearest to sun whereas on winter solstice it is farthest from sun.
