The most common methods of obtaining improved variety of crops is hybridization (i.e. interbreeding of two different plants to obtain plant with required characteristics. )
For example:- a farmer grows two variety of rice, one which produces nutritionally - rich grains during the monsoon season and the other which produces nutritionally- poor grains during all the seasons. Through hybridization of both the varieties, a hybrid plant is obtained. Therefore a hybrid plant obtained will have both the characteristics of parent plant.
Hence, it will be able to produce nutritionally rich grains, which can be cultivated throughout the year.
