molecules  of carbndioxide and oxygen r exchanged by the process called difusion ...it occours between gaseous external environment and the blood...this occours in the in the alveoli  in the lungs.. respiration takes place in the respiratory organs called lungs

SandeepJ: so the inference is that the alveoli is the respiratory surface isn't it ? I think it is cuz i have read some of the conditions for a surface to be a respiratory sur. like 1)richly supplied with blood capilllaries 2) thin (which i don't think lungs are ) and moist for efficient diffusion. So eventually can I say that alveoli are the respiratory surface in human beings and other animals?
tam2: i don't know
SandeepJ: ok
dainvincible1: alveoli r present inside lungs
SandeepJ: i know that very well... but which one of'em is the respiratory surface?
SandeepJ: Definition of respiratory surface- The surface of the organism where the gaseous exchange takes place. Hope this helps to understand my question.
dainvincible1: it's alveoli then
SandeepJ: k thank you :)
