The smallest cell of the human body is the sperm cell.

The sperm cell is a member of the male reproductive system. It is produced through a process called spermatogenesis. The sperm serves as a transport system for the delivery of gametes into the "female body".

It carries haploid chromosomes which fuse with the haploid ova to get diploid zygote during the process of fertilization. The zygote does not get the mitochondrial DNA from the sperm as it contributes only chromosomal DNA.
